The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is seeking volunteers to sit on Student Census Advisory Committees for specific identity groups.
In 2024, YCDSB undertook a Student Census to get a better understanding of the students and communities that we serve, and to identify any potential gaps and/or barriers to student success within our Board as prescribed by
Ontario’s Anti-Racism Act 2017, the Education Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. E.2 and the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19.
While the data is important, understanding the lived experiences of those who the data represents is even more important and vital to the success of this work. Advisory committee members will work collaboratively, and share lived experiences that will help us to analyze and interpret the data, identify barriers, and support all students in our Board to be successful. They will also provide guidance on consulting with the community to seek additional input.
We are seeking members for the following advisory committees:
- 2SLGBTQIA+ Student
- Black Students
- East Asian Students
- Latin American Students
- Middle Eastern Students
