Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. Before his last meal with his disciples, Jesus washed their feet. He also later predicted to his disciplines what would happen the next day. The ritual reenactment of the Last Supper takes place every week at Mass with the celebration of the Eucharist.
A Holy Thursday Prayer
Faithful God, Jesus gave us the gift of his own
Body and Blood that we might have food to
sustain us. As we share the Eucharist of Jesus
Christ, let us become Eucharist for one another.
May our lives be blessed, broken and given that your people may live.
This we ask in the name of Jesus, our living Bread. Amen.
