“Our Lady of Peace Catholic Learning Centre” Opens in Maple

On Friday, September 27th, the new “Our Lady of Peace Catholic Learning Centre” in Maple olp.ycdsb.ca opened its doors, with celebrations including a Prayer of Dedication, Flag Raising and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  Hosted by YCDSB Director of Education Ab Falconi,  the event featured Special Guest Speaker, the Honourable Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education for Ontario.

Students, Leadership Teams, Executives and Staff from both the York Catholic and Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir (CSC) boards joined in a joyful morning of faith, fellowship and new beginnings.

Chair of the Board for York Catholic, Domenic Mazzotta, along with Trustees Rose Cantisano, Elizabeth Crowe, Maria Iafrate and CSC MonAvenir Trustee Maxime Papillon were also onhand to welcome guests, and participate in the opening ceremonies.

Once the home of the much beloved Our Lady of Peace Catholic Elementary School, the facility was dedicated to a new purpose, and a new future – providing an innovative range of faith-based educational and community program delivery across multiple streams, including Alternative, and French Language offerings.

“Our Lady of Peace Catholic Learning Centre”, together with its educational partners are inspired by Gospel values, and a commitment to promoting lifelong learning, critical thinking, inclusion, and active community involvement.
