Happy June!There is so much to celebrate throughout the month of June. In addition to the excitement of the official start of summer, June brings warmer weather, the completion of another school year and, for many of our students, staff and their families, their upcoming graduations, Confirmations and year-end masses.
We truly wish you all a loving, blessed and positive month. We ask St. Joseph of Cupertino, the Patron Saint of exam writing, to watch over and guide our students.
The following are several of the important celebrations and recognizable dates taking place throughout the month of June:
Filipino Heritage Month:
The YCDSB celebrates the long and rich history of Filipino Canadians and their contributions to Canada across the country. According to the 2021 Census, there are approximately 960,000 Filipino Canadians living in Canada.

National Indigenous Heritage Month:
York Catholic comes together to commemorate National Indigenous Heritage Month, celebrating the rich heritage, history, and diversity of Indigenous Peoples across Canada and within our YCDSB community.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is Wednesday June 21.
THE CREATOR LOVES YOU
Italian Heritage Month:
The YCDSB celebrates the strong and vibrant history of Italian Canadians and their contributions to Canada across the country. It is reported that there are over 1.5 million people of Italian heritage currently living in Canada.

Portuguese Heritage Month:
The YCDSB acknowledges the long and rich history of Portuguese Canadians and their contributions to Canada across the country. According to the 2021 Census, there are roughly 500,000 Portuguese Canadians living in Canada.

Pride Month:
Happy Pride Month to our 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their loved ones. We love you. We see you. “We are all children of God, and God loves us as we are and for the strength that each of us fights for our dignity,” Pope Francis.

Sacred Heart of Jesus:
As Catholics, we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus throughout the month of June. Jesus’ heart is a sign and symbol of Jesus’ endless love and affection for all.
