Dear York Region Residents,
We are writing to inform you that two voting community representative positions are currently available on the York Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (YCPIC).
YCPIC’s mission is to support and encourage parent involvement at the Board level, support student achievement and well-being, communicate with and support Catholic School Councils, and undertake activities to help parents support their children’s learning at school and at home.
Community representatives can provide a unique and helpful perspective on the YCPIC’s work.
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals can be appointed to YCPIC if:
- They are a Ratepayer;
- They are not a Parent or Guardian of a student enrolled in a school in the YCDSB;
- They are not a member or employee of the Board; and
- They previously served as a Parent Member, then a period of at least two years has passed since the end of their most recent term as a Parent Member.
Community representatives are chosen by the Board, by considering:
- The candidates’ leadership in the community through school events, their local parish, charities, local committees or advisory groups, Catholic organizations or institutions, and/or community groups;
- In support of the YCDSB values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, the composition of the YCPIC board should reflect the diversity of the Board Community. As such, candidates from diverse and/or underrepresented groups are highly encouraged to apply.
Individuals can choose to serve a one- or two-year term
If you or someone you know someone meets this criteria, please encourage them to submit an application by sending a letter stating their interest and qualifications to Interim Director of Education John De Faveri via Senior Coordinator Silvana Greco at: silvana.greco@ycdsb.ca. Deadline for applications is December 1, 2024.
Yours in Catholic Education,
John De Faveri
Interim Director of Education
