The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is proud to celebrate five of its exceptional alumni who were recently honoured with the Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association’s (MACCA) Scholarship Award.
They are:
- Martin Elijah Julius and Jade Tamin Abigail Junior, graduates of St. Brother André CHS
- Temidayo Israel Olanipekun, Ameer Salawu and Anuli Jennifer Udoye, graduates of Father Michael McGivney CA
This prestigious award recognizes young leaders who embody both academic excellence and a strong commitment to community service. On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the YCDSB joined MACCA and other like-minded community partners in celebrating the achievements of these remarkable young people.
The theme for MACCA’s scholarship gala this year, “Brilliance in Action,” beautifully reflected the accomplishments of all five YCDSB alumni. Each has demonstrated outstanding academic success while making meaningful contributions beyond the classroom and serving their community with compassion, dedication and purpose.
The achievements of these graduates reflect the values of Catholic education and how YCDSB students are encouraged to use their unique gifts to make the world a better place.
To all the MACCA scholarship recipients, congratulations! The YCDSB looks forward to seeing all the incredible things you will continue to accomplish.
