St. Brendan CES Wins York Region Tree Bee Competition

The annual York Region Tree Bee is a competition for students in Grades 4 to 6 who live in, or belong to a school, community group or club located in York Region. It is composed of 30 multiple choice questions about local trees and the forestry industry in Ontario, as well as the identification of twenty trees based on their characteristics.

Leading up to the competition, the St. Brendan Grade 6 team from Mr. Rudderham’s Class completed sample questions and practiced over several weeks identifying local trees using the web tool www.treebee.ca, which is available to anyone.

The team began with the sole intent of learning about our environment and having a good time. Little did they know that their efforts would pay off and they would be victorious in the end as first place champions.

Congratulations to the St. Brendan students! The entire York Catholic DSB community is proud of you!
