Thank You Early Childhood Educators

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the York Catholic District School Board will join organizations from across the province to celebrate the commitment, dedication and hard work of Designated Early Childhood Educators (DECEs) and staff who work with young children. On this day, we mark Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.

It is appropriate that we recognize this date on the Feast Day of St. Luke the Evangelist. Luke’s Gospel is noted for how beautifully it describes Christ’s sacrifice for the future good of humanity. DECEs make personal sacrifices every day so our earliest learners can feel supported in their physical, mental and emotional needs, which prepares these children for future school success.

When a child enters the York Catholic District School Board’s Kindergarten program, they become members of a collaborative learning community rooted in the teachings of Christ. There, DECEs are present to support the child’s whole development – spiritual, social, emotional, physical and academic. This support is most appreciated by both parents and students during what can sometimes be a stressful transition to school.

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, we thank, in a special way, our Designated Early Childhood Educators and staff who work with young children for the love, pride and discipleship they show when guiding the learning and development of thousands of students in the York Catholic District School Board.

Designated Early Childhood Educators: thank you for sharing your God-given talents and your vocation with the York Catholic DSB. We appreciate the work you do each and every day.
