Congratulations and a great big WOW! goes out to Dr. Anna Garito. Dr. Garito is the Board Leadership Development Strategy Specialist and Additional Qualifications Program Officer at York Catholic District School Board. Over the summer, Dr. Garito was the official keynote speaker at the Dyslexia Intervention Conference for Professionals: International Perspectives, hosted by Peking University in Beijing, China.
She holds a PhD which looks at Cantonese speaking students with dyslexia in their first language and learning a second language with a different orthography. She was invited to this conference because of her thorough understanding of dyslexia in both languages involving two different scripts. Her virtual address encapsulated the conference message of Dyslexia, student profiles, intervention (e.g. game based), teacher preparation and the Canadian School System. It is a real honour to see her recognized on such a prestigious platform.
